Explain the importance of the superficial layer of micro organisms
and the harmful nature of sudden changes in the quantity and
quality of raw water to ensure the effectiveness of the filter and
produce safe water. Explain the steps to be followed in general
terms.
DEVELOPMENT
PRACTICAL WORK
Demonstrate the following:
1) Operation of the filter: position of the valves
2) Control: gauging the incoming flow, regulating the
incoming flow, controlling the growth of algae and the
smell and flavour of the water, registering the turbidity at
the entrance to the filters and the duration of the
filtration process.
3) Maintenance.

1) Ask the participants to carry out these operations,
explaining what they are going to do before each step.
Correct any mistakes immediately.
2) Ask them to repeat the process under the trainer’s
supervision.
3) Ask them to repeat the process again whilst the trainer
makes a note of their performance and their possible
weak points.

Revise any parts that the participants were unsure of.
